Joan Braun taught middle school earth, physical, and life science in the Ferguson-Florissant School District for over 30 years. For 13 of those years, she chaired the Science Department at Cross Keys Middle School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education at the University of Missouri, Columbia and her M.S. in educational technology from Fontbonne University.
Either sitting among or standing in front of the participants, Joan has been involved in professional development for science teachers at the local and national level. As a recipient of the Boeing Educator to Space Camp Award, Joan participated in professional development along with teachers from around the world. Braun was also selected as a Noyce Teaching Fellow sponsored by the National Science Foundation and Washington University in St. Louis. She works part-time at Little Creek Nature Area and the Challenger Learning Center.
